LGSC Travel Grants

Hello Laney! Fall 2025 LGSC Travel Grants are now open. This grant is for Laney Graduate students and can cover reimbursements for up to $250 conference expenses during the Fall 2025 semester. Each student can claim an LGSC grant a maximum of two times during their time as an enrolled student in their program. There is a limited number of grants available each semester. To apply, submit your information via our form on the Hub. Please take a moment to review the FAQ in the attached PDF for details and updates on LGSC Travel Grant policies. Sipin, Safari at the Atlanta Zoo!


Dear Laney,
We have 47 tickets left for the Sipin’ Safari event at the Atlanta Zoo! Tickets are available for purchase now on the Hub and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
If you purchase a ticket, please be sure to:
  1. Send your receipt to both Chipo Kambarami (chipo.kambarami@emory.edu) and Wendy lee (wei-hsuan.lee@emory.edu).
  2. Complete this survey (https://forms.gle/QuiGLpQvU5f3jPPK6).
  3. Be 21 years of age or older to attend this event.
\":pushpin:\" Important note: Students who won the lottery for tickets but do not complete their purchase will not be eligible to participate in the next two Ticket Liaison events.
We’re excited to make this experience available to as many students as possible. Once tickets are gone, they’re gone.
How to purchase your tickets
  1. Navigate and sign in to https://thehub.emory.edu/web_app?id=24040&menu_id=56483&if=0&
  2. Open events tab and search for Sipin’ Safari
  3. Select the number of tickets you want (up to 2)
  4. Click ‘register’
  5. Answer any required questions
  6. Click ‘confirm my registration’
  7. Once you click "Confirm my Registration," you will be taken to an external site to enter your payment details.
  8. Take a screenshot of your receipt, clearly showing how many tickets you purchased, and send to Chipo Kambarami and Wendy Lee to claim your festival tickets.

(CPD Workshop) Professional Development

Through practical activities and guided reflection, students will learn how to communicate their strengths, translate their experiences into transferable skills, and develop a professional brand that aligns with their career goals—regardless of major, past work experience, or current clarity about the future. This interactive workshop is designed to prepare students to approach the Fall Career Fair with confidence and strategy.

T\"\"ake a mindful pause and recharge with Scents and Serenity! This drop-in aromatherapy experience invites students to explore the calming power of scents and their connection to mental well-being. Participants will create personalized scent bags, paint their own incense holders, and learn about how different aromas can support stress relief, focus, and balance throughout the semester.

New Series For Skill Building

 

This fall, Laney Graduate School is launching its inaugural Skills Training Lunch and Learn series, designed to equip students with practical skills that support academic success, research excellence, and professional growth.  

 

The first session focused on high-performance computing (HPC), offers an introduction to parallel computing, HPC clusters, job scheduling, and remote development workflows — no prior experience needed.  

 

Stay tuned for additional workshops on harnessing the power of AI tools, building your personal academic website, and other learning opportunities that expand your toolkit and help you flourish on your graduate journey.
