Emory has updated the process for student organizations working with vendors to ensure smooth event planning and timely payments. Student groups must use vendors from the Approved Vendor List; exemptions for other vendors must be requested on The Hub at least 60 days before an event. Procurement approval is not guaranteed, and payments may be delayed or denied if the process is not followed. Meet and Mentor

Hello! My name is Amber Ford, and I am representing the Advocacy Committee of Emory University’s Residence Hall Association (RHA).

I am reaching out about a school-wide initiative, Meet & Mentor! Meet & Mentor is Emory’s only university-wide mentorship program, and we work to connect current undergraduate students interested in graduate education with current graduate student mentors. Our mission is to offer resources to foster supportive mentor-mentee relationships for students of all backgrounds for professional development. Pairs will be matched based on career and educational goals, interests, and preferences indicated by mentors.

We are currently looking for graduate mentors interested in participating, and we were hoping you could help us spread awareness about our program. Mentors could be current students or alumni and would meet with undergraduate mentees 2-3 times a semester to discuss topics related to the curriculum. We’ve included some information outlining the goals and logistics of our program below.

If this sounds like something that students in the Laney Graduate Student Council would be interested in, we would greatly appreciate any assistance in promoting our program through newsletters, emails, or directing us to resources or contacts who could help forward this information. We look forward to hearing from you!

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Assistant VP of Advocacy Amber Ford at amber.ford@emory.edu or VP of Advocacy Kushal Daruwala at kushal.daruwala@emory.edu.

How to Become a Mentor

Emory Farmers Market

Through a weekly gathering of farms, restaurants, small-scale artisanal businesses, and Emory community members, the Emory Farmers Market fosters education and personal relationships through food. Community members have the opportunity to engage with small-scale producers and support the local economy, contributing to a more robust and sustainable food system, while enjoying delicious, local food.

FurKids ATL - Weekly Service Trips

Mission:

Volunteers will support Furkids ATL by caring for cats and assisting at the organization’s next-door thrift store. Tasks include feeding, cleaning, and socializing with cats, as well as sorting, organizing, and arranging donated items in the thrift store to ensure they are displayed effectively. This event offers a unique opportunity to make a difference both in the lives of animals and in the surrounding community.

By interacting with and caring for cats, volunteers improve their well-being and increase their chances of finding loving homes. At the same time, by supporting thrift store operations, volunteers help maximize sales that directly fund Furkids’ mission. Each contribution, whether a clean cage or a neatly organized shelf, plays an important role in sustaining this cycle of care and community impact.

Volunteers should also be comfortable with light physical activity such as standing, bending, walking, or lifting items. A training session at the beginning of the semester and continual on-site guidance will be provided to ensure every volunteer feels confident and supported in their work. Volunteers will meet weekly at 646 Means Dr and will be provided transportation to the Furkids site.

When: Fridays, 10 am - 12 pm
