About Us
Emory Medical Student Disability Alliance (EMSDA) unites medical students through advocacy, mentorship, education, and community toward advancing equitable healthcare for people with disabilities. Our mission is to (1) educate future physicians to provide culturally competent, disability-inclusive care to patients; (2) advance disability visibility and accessibility in medical education, including admissions and curriculum design; (3) advocate for a shift from the medical model of disability toward one that dismantles ableism and celebrates disability pride; and (4) foster community among students while normalizing disability in medical training. EMSDA is a local chapter of the national organization Medical Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses (MSDCI) and welcomes all medical students regardless of background, nationality, or religion.
