Oxford Student Government Association

SGA meets every Wednesday in the Seney 4th Conference Room at 6:30PM.

The Oxford College of Emory University Student Government Association of 2024-2025 is a body that makes decisions based off integrity and emphasizes a strong value of transparency, accessibility, proactivity, efficiency, and a consciousness of history. With these values in mind, this SGA has eight specific goals we would like to accomplish in the next year:

 

1) Creating a united front between and within campuses and classes

 

2) Emphasizing the importance of self-care and wellness

 

3) Advocate for student opinions and concerns

 

4) Transparency for SGA initiatives, efforts, and actions

 

5) Work towards compromises with administration for campus concerns

 

6) Welcome and encourage the student body for their feedback and constructive criticism

 

7) Collaborate and invest in relationships with student organizations

 

8) Foster social justice dialogues and knowledge acquisition in a supportive environment

Senate Committees

Student Living Committee: This committee handles all aspects of student living including food and dining, residence hall life, and sustainability initiatives.

 

Arts and Academics Committee: This committee focuses on expanding access to academic resources across both campus, collaborating with the Academic Affairs office, promoting the arts and working with art-focuses clubs/organizations, and putting on the always popular Arts Week. Weekly meetings. 

 

Student Health and Wellness Committee: This committee focuses on aspects of student health such as mental health, healthy living, and sexual assault prevention in collaboration with the counseling office and CHL. 

 

Transportation Committee: This committee handles aspects related to shuttles to/from Oxford/Atlanta and coordinates airport shuttles around breaks in collaboration with the transportation office.

 

Diversity and Inclusion Committee: This committee is responsible for advocating campus diversity, creating an inclusive campus culture, supporting cultural and diversity-based clubs, and programming exciting campus events. Meets biweekly. 

 

Environmental Sustainability Committee: This committee aims to create a cultural change at Oxford, making environmental sustainability an integral factor in all Oxford's decisions. The committee monitors, analyzes, and suggests possible changes to ongoing sustainability initiatives, as well as proposing and leading new initiatives. 

 

 

Executive Committees

Student Concerns Committee: This committee reads SpeakUp submissions from students, acts as an intermediary between SGA, administration, and the student body. Join if you enjoy listening, creative problem-solving, graphic design, and communications.

 

Elections and Charters Committee: This committee handles election of candidates for spring elections and the club chartering process. The group is responsible for listening to ideas for new clubs and aiding them in obtaining a club charter. 

 

Budget Committee: This committee oversees monetary policy among clubs, manages SGA spending, and maintains fiscal integrity on campus. The budget committee meets every Sunday from 2-4 to review the weekly submitted budgets. Inventory Committee: This committee oversees the organization of the SGA closet and works closely with club presidents to ensure their needs are met in storage. This year, the Inventory Committee will have the opportunity to work with administration in preparing for the completion of the new student center. 

 

Investigations Committee: This committee handles matters pertaining to constitutionality and investigates transgressions. The committee acts as the back end audit structure for budgetary matters. Meets biweekly.

 

 

Judicial Council: The judicial council acts as SGA's judicial branch. Join if you are interested in law. 

 

Oxford-Atlanta Liaisons: The Oxford Atlanta Liaisons serve as Oxford student legislative representatives to Emory SGA. They act as key communicators between the Oxford and Atlanta Campuses. 

ISAB Liaison: The liaison to the International Student Advocacy Board also serves as member of the DEI Committee, and offers an International Student perspective to SGA.

Spring Start Liaison: SGA's Spring Start Liaison gives a voice to a crucial campus group and advocates for their interests.
