About Us
Emory Suri is the premier South Asian a Cappella team at Emory University. Founded in 2015, Suri comprises students from diverse backgrounds with various academic pursuits— all united by a love for fusing pop with South Asian music and culture. Emory Suri serves as a platform for fusing our identities to serve a common passion for spreading the joy and vibrancy of South Asian culture through music. Suri is a dynamic team of unique individuals where inclusion is fundamental to the culture we continuously seek to nurture. We aim to increase awareness and appreciation for South Asian music amongst students by combining two otherwise distinct communities at Emory and creating an avenue to connect with the culture through the fusion of Bollywood styles, Carnatic music, and American pop. We also perform and compete locally as well as on a national scale, having placed at multiple national competitions.
